The baby chicks are chirping away in their new home!  We ended up getting 6 golden comets, 4 black australorps, 2 black sex-linked, and 2 Easter Eggers!  After we spent all that time setting up the brooder, I was reminded by the nice woman at Agway that I should not put shavings in the brooder until the chickens are a few weeks old.  There is a danger that the chicks could breathe in the shavings and it could kill them.  YIKES!  I picked through the recycling and found some newspapers, so I think we are in good shape.

The kittens and momma Zayne are just adorable.  Hot Wheels is sleeping on my chest right now after having a crazy play session in the boys' tunnel.  I think all three kittens have a forever home waiting for them and I know that Zayne will follow suite!

We took the hay off of two of the raised beds and placed a thick sheet of plastic over the beds to speed up the defrosting!  The beds are now ready for spring peas!!!  We will be planting them tomorrow.  I enjoyed another fresh spinach salad from the hoop house for dinner tonight!
